hasaknightjob: Abandoned shack in the woods (Z - MM Shack)
As the message had said, come Saturday morning it was time for those interested in the rescue mission to gather around the Hermit Shack and prepare. And listen to an awesome speech )

[Open to rescuers or those who'd like to observe. Everything that happens outside of the House is okay for broadcast, inside NFB please.]

All right, yesterday hadn't gone the way the House expected. But that didn't mean ruling out inviting more guests in if any came by who seemed interesting. It certainly didn't mean letting go of any of the guests it currently had. The House had very strong opinions about holding on to the guests it currently had.

Luckily there was nothing and no one would could interfere with that, right? Oh wait, turns out there is someone. )

[Open! Rescue squad, therein lies your notice about meeting up on Saturday. Post and any activity outside of the House VERY much available for broadcast now. Inside of the House still NFB please.]

The House had so many wonderful guests inside. So many different fears and anxieties and traumas. Why the House could just eat them up!

It wouldn't, of course. Well, not entirely. You couldn't actually eat your guests because, well, then they weren't guests anymore, were they? They'd be gone. Then you'd have to find new ones.

Not that the House wouldn't mind finding new ones! That was the thing about having infinite space inside of you. There was always room for more.

Provided they were the right kind of more. The House was keeping an eye out, so to speak. There hadn't been anybody tapping on its barrier since the last time but you could never been too careful.

Still. Surely no harm in being open to more guests, right?

[Open. Post and comments NFB please.]

Things were getting interesting. To begin with, yesterday someone had tried to push past the House's barrier and that was not on. No one and nothing got in or out without the House's say so, and the House had not said so.

But this meant that perhaps there were those nearby starting to notice what was going on. Luckily so far no one who could cause real trouble. Only one type of person could do that and near as the House could tell there were none of those around.

Still. Worth paying attention to. Especially since the House couldn't move while it had guests inside. And of course the House could spit its guests out and then leave but it didn't want to. It liked its guests, and all the emotions they brought with them.

And this round... well suffice it to say perhaps some proved worth watching more than others.

Curious.

So no. Not going anywhere, thank you. Not until it had to. In the meanwhile it would stay right where it was and watch and wait.

And maybe invite another guest inside. If one happened to come by, of course.

[Open. Post and comments NFB, please.]

After a day spent preparing, decorating, and safely putting Raphael over in Marc and Steven's flat, the party was ready. Blue and white streamers were hung up along the walls, along with a banner reading "HAPPY HANUKKAH" hanging over the door to the balcony so it could be seen as soon as people came in to the flat.

There was music playing. A selection that, as one might guess, Steven had put together to help set the mood. And, he hoped, to show that there was more to Hanukkah music than one well known and slightly meta breaking novelty song.

The dining room was set up as the main area for the food, and there was a lot of it. There was plastic cutlery as well as plenty of paper plates, bowls, and napkins with images on them from menorahs, to dreidels, to a cheerfully smiling sufganiyah which is possibly the cutest thing anyone has ever seen but don’t take our word for it just look at the picture omg.

Drinks and cups were set up in the kitchen. There was a moddable selection of good wines as well as also moddable non-alcoholic drinks including grape juice and sodas. Next to each bottle of wine was a card in Llewellyn's handwriting suggesting which of the food offerings the wine paired best with (those who'd seen his handwriting before would hopefully appreciate how much care he took to make them legible). It was possible that Steven found this to be the one of the most endearing things Llewellyn had ever done, but then again it was early in their relationship so the record could very well be broken at some point.

The living room was set up for mingling, with some of the dining room chairs from Marc and Steven's flat brought over to provide extra places to sit. A table was set up by the closed bedroom door with plenty of dreidels and gelt for anyone who wanted to play. And, of course, the balcony was available if anyone needed fresh air.

The door to the flat was open. Steven and Llewellyn were there. All that was needed were the guests!

[Threads are up! As the posters around town say, all adults are invited, so feel free to come on in! Enjoy!]

Steven had everything prepared for him and Llewellyn to host a dinner with friends. He handwavily sent out the link for everyone to get their order in at Cafe Fina so that the food could get there not long after everyone arrived. He'd tidied up a bit. Not that the flat was a mess, but Steven did make sure that things like the coffee table were clear if anyone wanted to sit on the couches later.

He even had the dining table set and ready to go. He'd debated about having candles but in the end thought best not. Maybe Travis preferred avoiding flames of any kind when he was off the job.

The only thing that was a problem was the outfit. Steven had a nice blue shirt and slacks on, that was fine. But -

It looks great on you, Marc said, from where he was currently visible in the blank screen of the TV.

- the issue was the bloody cape.

Well not bloody. Luckily with the way the week had gone that wasn't part of it. Still. Steven was wearing a long black cape with red lining and it would not come off.

It had, frankly, made Marc's day.

"Oh shut up," Steven told him.

No, go ahead, tell me how my armor looks stupid again. Go on.

For the record Marc's reflection stubbornly did not have a cape on. Wanker.

"Just because your suit is all - " Steven made a vague gesture " - thematic. But no, go on. See how you like it next time someone grabs you by the cape and I don't pop in so they've nothing to hold on to. Who's laughing then?"

Not you since you just said you wouldn't be there, Marc pointed out.

"Keep this up and see if I don't sign you up for a class again," Steven said. "Or would you like to hang about and be here when we've guests? Could drop you in for all the conversation, it's no problem."

I only wish I could take a picture, Marc said, but he did disappear, leaving Steven's own reflection behind.

"Twat," Steven muttered. He busied himself trying to think of anything else that needed doing before everyone arrived.

[for the beau and the guests. as always, this looked and sounded like Steven having a one sided conversation with himself.]

The day had been spent with errands. Mostly Marc's as he finally got around to responding to various messages from friends and even dropping off a gift.

But the bachelor party was that night and Marc was going to have most of the day to himself on Saturday. Which meant if Steven was going to be ready in time to leave for Portugal on Sunday Steven probably needed to start packing now.

Granted at the moment "packing" involved a suitcase which contained two sets of clothing for Marc just in case, easily packed since it wasn't as though Marc ever treated his possessions as things that would ever stay in one place for long, a few books Steven had meant to get around to reading.... and not much else.

He was working on deciding, all right? At least he had the suggestions from Liz to help.

Marc couldn't be in the apartment, was the thing.

He didn't want to be anywhere. Marc Spector had solid method to his coping mechanisms and they all boiled down to one concept: just don't. Don't be there. Don't deal.

Only running away wasn't an option because Marc had to consider Steven. And handing the body over to Steven was definitely not an option because as bad as this week was for Marc for Steven it was going to be a thousand times worse.

No prize for guessing if that was Marc's fault, of course.

The Steven of it all was why the apartment was a no go. Too much there that was Steven, too much that was personal. Marc was trying not to deal with memories, thank you, he didn't need help with the reminders.

So he went somewhere that meant nothing to him, which was a quiet bench in the park. And he went there with his last option for coping mechanisms, which was currently contained in a paper bag wrapped bottle at his side.

Maybe if he was lucky he and Steven wouldn't wake up until Sunday.
